Dr. Danielle Lucchesi chose to become a general surgeon so she could bring rapid results to people with a breadth of medical conditions, and for the opportunity to establish unique connections with patients and colleagues. Her practice encompasses a range of elective and emergency surgical procedures, including treatment of skin and soft tissues, appendectomy, hernia repair, and small bowel, colon, and gall bladder surgery.
Dr. Lucchesi strives to treat each patient with the utmost dignity, approaching them with compassion and understanding as she would a member of her own family. She does her best every day to be an active listener and a good communicator, helping patients feel comfortable and safe so that they can work together to bring about the best possible results.
A New Jersey native, Dr. Lucchesi studied biology and healthcare ethics at Saint Joseph’s University. She went on to earn her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), where she also completed an internship and residency in general surgery.
She came to medicine through her grandmother, who managed a primary care practice when Dr. Lucchesi was a child. She became fascinated by an anatomy book for children that one of the physicians sent home for her. Later, while in high school, the doctors graciously allowed her to shadow them, sparking her interest in learning about disease processes and how to translate that knowledge into medical management. During college, she volunteered in a wide variety of healthcare settings, and while in medical school, she spent part of a summer working at a clinic in a rural area of Guatemala. At each step, Dr. Lucchesi fell more in love with interacting with and caring for patients. This is still one of her favorite aspects of her work, along with keeping up on the latest surgical techniques and technology.
Outside of work, Dr. Lucchesi spend times baking, taking walks with her rescue pup, and at the beach. She loves sports and particularly enjoys watching baseball and football.
