Dr. Kristin Kean’s focused academic studies, early career in social work, and extensive OB/GYN training at a Level I trauma center in Philadelphia helped prepare her for the range of patient concerns she treats with compassion daily at Redeemer Health.
Dr. Kean offers women minimally invasive pelvic surgery, workup and treatment of abnormal gynecologic conditions, wellness exams, and prenatal care for low to high-risk pregnancies.
After earning undergraduate degrees in psychology and women’s studies, she began serving medically fragile and developmentally delayed children at a nonprofit social services agency in New York. Finding the medical aspect of the work intriguing, she began pre-med studies, eventually combining her longtime interests in advocating for women and in children’s health by entering into obstetrics and gynecology.
In 2019, Dr. Kean was selected as the sole resident in her program to receive the American Urogynecologic Society’s Award for Excellence in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery — a testament to her commitment to the care of women with pelvic floor disorders and to the incorporation of quality of life improvement into her clinical care of patients.
At Redeemer Health, Dr. Kean is gratified by the personal discussions she has with her patients and by the ability to provide a breadth of services, from primary and preventative care, to medical and surgical management. She especially appreciates our warm, collegial atmosphere and strong focus on patient care and well-being.
Outside of work, Dr. Kean enjoys time at home with her husband and stepsons and recommends baking for stress relief. She loves an occasional scuba diving trip as well as fishing and swimming at her cabin in Canada.
